Pink Vespa

Pink Vespa I passed this pink Vespa on the street after getting caught in a short winter rain shower in San Francisco. I noticed the water beads, and pulled out my camera.

About Lane Collins

Lane I gained a serious interest in photography at 17, when I enrolled in a black & white darkroom class. I quickly developed a passion for taking and making images, and soon thereafter decided to pursue a career as a photographer.

I studied for three quarters at the Art Institute of Atlanta, but ultimately decided to finish my degree elsewhere. I moved back to my home in North Carolina and attended a local community college as I worked on my portfolio and searched for a new art school.

In June 2002, I made a month-long trip to California - my first time traveling to the west coast - during which I visited Los Angeles, San Jose, and San Francisco. I fell in love with California.

Now 22, I have been living in San Francisco for over a year, and I am studying photography at the San Francisco Art Insitute, which has so far been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I am gaining an interest in documentary work, and now enjoy printing color by hand. I stick primarily to film and prefer working in medium format. And I have no idea what I'll be doing once I graduate.
